Trail Mix

Take one of these delicious and healthy trail mixes on your next hike to give you instant energy.

Trail mix is a versatile food that can be made at home and taken on hikes or picnics for instant energy. You might want to try some of these recipes or experiment with your own combinations. Just mix the ingredients together in a bowl and store in an airtight container until ready to use.

Ingredients:

Monkey Business recipe:

  • 2 cups peanuts
  • 1 cup chocolate morsels
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup banana chips

Cereal Killer recipe:

  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 2 cups mini-pretzels
  • 1/2 cup Wheat Chex cereal
  • 1/2 cup Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons peanut oil

Fruits and Nuts mix:

  • 1 cup dried apricot pieces
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup dried pineapple
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Place ingredients in a mixing bowl and toss gently to mix. Store in an airtight container until ready to use.
