Toddler Activity: Glitter Shapes

by Trish Kuffner, author of The Toddler's Busy Book

Have your toddler coat holiday shapes in sparkles by shaking the shapes in the glitter box.

  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Glitter or confetti
  • Small shoebox with lid
  • Rubber bands

  1. Cut shapes out of construction paper. Use basic geometric shapes such as circles, squares, triangles, or rectangles, or seasonal shapes such as hearts, pumpkins, candy canes, and so on.
  2. Rub the glue stick on one or both sides of the shapes.
  3. Put the glue-covered shape into the shoebox along with confetti or glitter.
  4. Place the lid on the shoebox and secure with a couple of rubber bands.
  5. Shake the box to cover the shape with glitter or confetti.
  6. Remove the shape from the box and allow to dry.
