Trying to conceive

Hi All

If you are trying to conceive here is the place to talk and share ideas.

Please post your questions and ideas here.

I've been trying to conceive for about a year and a half - I had a misscarriage at beginning of December 2006.  Can you suggest anything?  I'd love to hear from anyone who has been in a similar position.

Hey linda,

I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage.  Infertility can be so hard.  It took me about a year to get pregnant with my daughter and then I was never able to get pregnant again.  But the good news is that I did get pregnant and hopefully you will too.

Have you been to a fertility doctor?  My suggestion is to see a doctor if you haven't already and to try to not get too upset, sometimes the stress just makes the infertility harder.  My cousin couldn't get pregnant and when she did, she had triplets!!

Please, keep us posted.

we have been trying to conceive for the past 5 months now, what

I had several miscarriages and had really given up on ever getting and staying pregnant.  I took fertility pills, shots, everything.  I was 33 and decided that maybe it just wasn't meant to be.  That was in December of 1991.  After I quit trying....In February 1992....I was pregnant.  But I also knew I didn't want an only child.  I wanted my son to have someone to grow up with.  So again I tried and finally quit trying.  Again as soon as I quit trying, I was pregnant again.  Just relax...say a prayer and God will do the rest.

It took my hubby and I  3 1/2 years to conceive.  It is such a horrible and defeating feeling.  I would say that you should do some major investigating for infertility specialists in your area.  I happened to find the most incredible specialists in my area!  Everyone (from the appointment staff, to the nurses, to the doctors) was unbelieveably wonderful, sensitive, and dedicated.  Make sure the doctors are proactive and won't make you wait too long.  When I first began the infertility process, my doctor asked what day I was in my cycle, and we were able to begin THAT DAY!  We then felt like we were making progress, even when we were not successful.  My first son came through invetro-fertilization (we found out we could not conceive on our own), and my second after a very fun clam bake.  My body realized what it was supposed to do with some help!

It took us 4 yrs to get pg.  We never saw a fertlity specialist or anything.  I started doing yoga during the last couple of months,  and I think it helped.

I recently found the Clearblue Easy FM for rent at  It rents monthly for 24.99.

We could have used one in the beginning,  but didn't try a FM until the last year.

My husband and I had a stillborn baby girl in Nov 06.  =(

We just got the go ahead 2 months ago to try again.  I had to have a cyst removed from my ovary after my last pregnancy, so I'm hoping it doesn't cause any problems with us getting pregnant.  The first time we tried it took 3 months, but we lost our baby girl.  I'm 34 and the clock is ticking.

We are keeping our fingers crossed this time.  Good luck to everyone!  I know how hard it is.

I am 34 (35 in December) and my husband and I have been trying for 5 months with no success.  The last month I had an HSG (nothing wrong) and a natural IUI (no fert drugs).  I also started acupuncture.  and no BFP.  I am so crushed and starting to wonder if this is ever going to happen.  Does anyone have any encouraging words out there?  I could really use some...

Are you using a fertility kit, ovulation kit? those help a lot, also check out

take prenatal vitamins and folic acid right now while you're TTC, also nooooooooo KY it kills those little guys.
I tried this the last time OVULEX, they have it on ebay too- I did get pregnant fast but I lost him when I was five months pregnant, had nothing to do with the pills...........
I know how hard it is to try and try and nothing but I promise you somewhere up there's a little angel waiting for you to be her mommy, it will happen. It takes so much time, pray for this. I will say one for you tonight.I belive that this will happen for you, I really do. Don't give up, you are going to be a mother.

the first conception for us worked like a

the second time, noting my frustration at my inability to beloved ob/gyn suggested a change in routine.  within weeks, I went from having one full-time job, to having that and an additional part-time job that just came out of the blue, and chairwomanship of a community committee...three days after that, what I thought was the flu, was actually our second son.

My husband and I have tried 5 IUI's. 3 times with fertility drugs and the last 2 times with FSH injections. I am really getting frustrated with the whole process. I am 43 and don't have time to waste. I had one son; however, he was killed in an accident at the age of 19. I really want more children, yet I feel my time is running out. I am having to miss work often for this procedure, and that is also stressing me. I know it has to be now or never. Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

Hi, I have been trying to conceive, it seems like forever. It is really taking a toll on me and I just don't know what more I can do, I pray, I brought the OV Watch tried it for 3 months no success, I bought the clearblue easy monitor, tried it for months no success. I just feel like balling up in a knot and just staying like that forever. The babd part is I have been pregnant before and just was not ready to be a mommy, now that is all I want and think about. Please help, if anyone has any suggestions....

Have you tried to use any method for Gender Selection?
Based on statements such as that selecting the sex of a baby, increases the opportunity for a more balanced family, the question is still in the air... is gender selection a good option?

The Whelan Method

My uncle says if you eat turkey the day of conception, you will have a girl, if you eat ham, you will have a boy. He bases this on his experience, his sons were born in the winter, his daughters were born at the end of summer. All that leftover Thanksgiving turkey!

This is our first month trying. We are not getting married until January but we want to start our family as soon as possible. Thanks for all the good ideas, I will keep everyone posted

Sometimes it cantake up to two years for your body to get back to normal after coming off the pill. A lot depends on how long you were taking it.
