Rituals - FamilyEducation

I've just come back from a naming ceremony for a new grandson. The other grandparents came, lots of aunts, uncles, cousins. It was a simple religious ceremony, followed by a simple but fun dinner with opportunities for lots of intergenerational interaction. I just wondered what ceremonies and rituals you have found that build family and community feeling.

We do a family BBQ every summer. It's fun, relaxing, and it's a great excuse to get everyone together. Over the yrs we've lost family members, but we've also gained new ones. Everyone brings a family recipe and a few photos. Someday, we plan to put together a family cookbook as well as a scrapbook w/ all the photos. These keepsakes will be treasured and passed down to our future generations.

Well as all of us are busy during weekdays, we spare sunday as our family time.We always do this every week. Just a simple dinner in one of the family member's house. With this we can have bonding, spend time with one another. Simple yet full of family moments. I don't think it is necessary to have a certain occasion but the togetherness is what matters. celine
