I have 3 boys: 20 months, 4 and 7 years old.
My 4 years old and 7 years old sons are being curious about the feminine private parts. Of course, having 3 boys at home, they do know that they all have a penis but they do not know what a girl looks like. All they know is that girls do not have a penis, and that this is what makes us girls and what makes them boys.
My 7 years old asked me today again ''what did I have over there since I didn't have a penis''. I feel that I should try to tell him but at the same time I don't know how to proceed? I would rather be the one who explains this to him than knowing that he may try to figure out by himself by asking his friends (or simply just making a big deal out of it!) I would like to take this opportunity to make it clear to him right from the start that I am open to that kind of discussion with him.
All my friends who have kids, had both boys and girls with only a year or 2 apart, so their kids all know what the other gender looks like.(and they are not making a big deal out of it because there is nothing to be curious about!)
Any suggestions? Thanks!
