Schools offering college and hs for 11th and 12th graders

BACKGROUND; My son is now 14, in the 9th grade, and has a very difficult time in school because he has already studied everything on his own before. He taught himself to read when he was just four, and he recently taught himself to speedread. He has already read more books than I could in three lifetimes, given my own reading pace.

The local community college recently sold out many of their old textbooks for a dollar each, and I bought him scores of books on scores of subjects: geography, forensics, psychology, math, you name it. When he got them, he looked like he had just won the lottery.

His favorite subject is paleontology.

MY QUESTION: Do you know of any list of schools that have programs for 11th and 12th graders to study at the university and get their high school diplomas at the same time? I have searched the net and just can't seem to find anything. The only school I know much about is Missouri Academy.

I would very much appreciate any information you might have. Thanks so much.

Do you live in a college town? If you do, just go talk to the people at the admissions office about what they are willing to do to work with you. Be sure to keep your boy involved in age-appropriate activities through church or scouting or community clubs. Smart and mature are not the same thing.

Thanks for the advice. No, we don't live in a college town. We live on a small island where there is a community college which is having trouble keeping its accreditation. I agree with you about keeping him involved with other kid his age, but that has been a battle for years. He has a very good relationship with at fine teacher at his school. Recently, he has made some progress by trying to start a school newspaper and is the representative of his class on the student council. He has even made a couple of friends at whose home he stays a couple of weekends every month. Thanks again.
