With these mounting food prices, the unbelievable cost of gas, and the shaky job and housing markets, is your family making any sacrifices to keep up? What have you had to give up to make ends meet? Let us know how your family is making it work, and we may feature your comments in one of our slideshows!

We live w/in our means and try not to splurge too much. Our house is small, and although I wld love to move to a larger home someday, we make the best of our current situation. W/ food shopping, we belong to a wholesale club where everything is sold in bulk at less expensive prices. Our community has many conveniences, so we don't have to drive far to get the necessities. Therefore, we save on gas that way. I also have a small car that we use more frequently than our van. It gets us where we need to go, and it's a lot better on gas mileage. I presently am not working. My husband works 5 mins from our home, and he's been at this job for many yrs. It's a helpful convenience that we're very fortunate to have, especially at this tough economical time.

I don't think there is anything that we could give up. Like concerned, we have always lived within our means. Neither of us smoke or drink, and we don't do nights out, preferring to stay at home and do our hobbies. We both use public transport, and my OH sometimes uses his bike. We would never consider buying a car because it is not necessary. We eat very simply. I was raised in poverty so know a lot of recipes and tricks to make the budget stretch. If we need anything special, my OH will take on extra hours at work. I sell some of my craft work especially my cards and that also generates a little extra income. We live life very simply but are very happy with that. Life is too short to waste it worrying about bills etc.
