piano lessons

I am a mother of two: a 7 year old girl and a 5 year old

boy. They both go to private schools where they do music.

Since I don't have a musical background, I am not quite

sure if it is important to also start them on piano lessons. I

would really appreciate some experienced advice as to

what you consider beneficial in taking piano lessons for

Thank you so much for your time and input.

Doesn't have to be piano, it could be any musical instrument. It all depends on how interested your children are in music. Pianos are very expensive and take a lot of house room. What about guitar, clarinet, violin etc. Do they want to do extra music lessons?

Piano is beneficial bc unlike other instruments the child will learn both base and treble cleft. It has been proven through stats that music practice helps brain stimulation and links to higher academic achievment. You want to put them into what they are interested in but piano is a gateway instrument. If they can learn piano it will be easy for them to pick up most any other instrument. My family is filled with musicians who play several things each. Myself piano and flute. When I started learning flute I was light years ahead of my pears bc of my background in piano. It's a beautiful instrument.
