Hi!
Anyone due July 2014?
I'm a FTM due July 19. I have my first appointment nov 29 and am excited to see my little bean :)

HI! Just found out yeserday I'm 5 weeks which makes my date in July as well :) So overwhelmed though. I don't know what to do first. GP confirmed pregnancy. Congrats on your pregnancy :)

Hi! I'm a first-time mom also given a due date of July 19, 2014! I have PCOS which causes me to not ovulate, so after trying for a year we went through fertility treatments to conceive. We had success after our very first round of Clomid! My pregnancy will be risky, so I've already had one ultrasound on Nov. 26, but it showed our baby's heartbeat was within range, so we're looking good so far! The fertility clinic transferred me to the regular obgyn, so my first appointment with my new doctor and next ultrasound and testing is Dec. 18.

Awesome! Congratulations seagherkin :D that's so exciting you got to see your baby already. How are you feeling so far?
cid
30231

Yay :) congratulations to you as well! Is this your first as well? How are you feeling vee_vee?
cid
30232

TIRED!! I need a nap mid-afternoon and am in bed by 10, but then I wake up around 4:30am (to go to the bathroom!) and then can't get back to sleep for about an hour. That's been the norm for almost a week now. I'm not really having morning sickness or cravings...but I get really full really fast when I eat, and don't feel good for about an hour after. I've had one food aversion, to fish (which is bad because in moderation and awareness of mercury it's so good for baby brains!), but I'll try again when I can. How are you feeling? You must be so excited for tomorrow! I was a nervous wreck leading up to my appointment Tuesday! Will you get to have an ultrasound? I know I was unusual and many doctors wait until ten weeks for the first one...
cid
30233

I feel the exact same way. I never really took naps before but now I'm needing one a day. between the peeing and my cat crawling all over me at night I don't sleep very well lol. They told me they will be doing an ultra sound and dating tomorrow so I'm pretty excited. I was surprised they are doing it so early but the nurse on the phone said they usually like to get people in early. I feel like I can't get too excited until I see the ultra sound and heart beat. For the last week I've been nauseous and pretty much all food sounds gross to me except for apple juice and yogurt. I force myself to eat though for the baby :) Are you cooking for thanksgiving?
cid
30234

My inlaws live very close (three houses on the same street, close!) so I'm at my sister-in-law's helping out with her three kids and cleaning because we'll eat here, and my mother-in-law is at her house (next door) doing the main cooking and my husband is cooking the turkey on the smoker in the backyard with his dad. If you are not feeling good with food, are the Thanksgiving smells making you nauseous?
cid
30236

Wow that's nice having family so close. We are keeping it small this year. My husband's brother and girlfriend are coming over later. I'm cooking the sides and they're bringing the turkey. The rest of our family is about 2 hours away or out of state. I'm ok with the smells right now. It's just the thought of eating it that turns my stomach. It's so weird. Smoked turkey sounds amazing actually :)
cid
30237

Gmschaffer, how did it go today? Did you get to see the bean?
cid
30238

Everything went well. I got to see my baby in the ultrasound and see its little heart flicker. It was too little to hear the heart beat though. Measurements are consistent with my edd. I can breath a little better just knowing there is a baby in there :) How are you doing? Have you told any family yet?
cid
30239

I'm so glad! :o) We told my mom and my mother- and father-in-law the day we did the home test, and that was going to be all, but then I couldn't keep it in so I told my sister-in-law and her husband the next day. But we are waiting to tell anyone else until the next ultrasound. We are going to tell my dad and my brother when we see them at Christmas (they both live far). My plan is to buy an "I love my uncle" and a "I love grandpa" frame and put a picture of the ten-week ultrasound in it, and then wrap it up and give it to them for Christmas, do they find out when they open it. Then extended family and a few close friends we're planning on telling around Christmas, and we'll wait to announce to everyone else until 4 months just in case. How about you? Have you told anyone? How did you tell your husband?
cid
30240

Aww that's a cute way of announcing your pregnancy to your brother and dad. It will be really special and memorable :) I told my sisters and mom and my husband told his parents and brothers and a handful of friends. I really didn't want to tell friends but my husband was so excited. My husband was home when I took the pregnancy test. I did it early one morning before he got up for work. He bought the test the night before so he know I was taking it. It turned positive almost immediately but I sat there and waited 2 min. I ran out of the bathroom and said it's positive and started crying and laid in bed with him hugging. Then I asked him to go check it again for me to make sure I was reading it right haha. I took another one the next morning to make sure. How did your husband react when he got the news? How did you tell him?
cid
30241

Well...ours was not very romantic...we'd been trying for so long that we'd had many, many negative tests over the past year. We'd only done our very first month of Clomid where everything was very scheduled, right up to the exact date that we were supposed to test. We were going to a BBQ at my best friend's that night, and I had to run to the store before we left, so I decided to quickly take it before I left because I was sure it was going to be negative and I was going to buy some wine to drink at the BBQ (after a year of not drinking just in case). So I shouted to my husband that i was going to take the test and then go to the store, and took the test halfheartedly, not really paying attention. It changed immediately, and I was so surprised that I shouted my husband's name...forgetting that he was in the other bathroom (and was going to be awhile, if you know what I mean)! He yelled back what, and then I remembered where he was so I said nevermind.
cid
30242

But he pressed it, so I said it wasn't something I wanted to tell him while he was in the bathroom. So then he put two and two together, and said "was it positive?" half joking. I couldn't lie and I couldn't think of anything else to do, so I just yelled YES! So then he said "you really just told me while I was in the bathroom?" SO, not very romantic, but at least it's a funny story. He made me come in and give him a hug while he was still on the toilet, and then when he got out we just kind of sat and laughed together in disbelief. We went over to tell his parents right after, and then drove by my mom's house on the way to the BBQ to tell her. I took pictures of the test and then washed it and kept it on the nightstand the whole weekend (we took it on a Friday) and then Sunday we bought a different kind and I took another just in case. :o)
cid
30243

Haha I love it! That's a great story and memory! Hilarious! I kept our pregnancy tests on the bathroom counter for a week haha until we were having people over otherwise it would still be out :)
cid
30244

Have you started thinking of names? How are you feeling? Have you been getting rest?
cid
30245

I'm getting lots of rest...less tired than I was, but I've been going to sleep early and haven't been doing much during the days, so I haven't been needing my mid-day nap. I'm a teacher so I've been off for thanksgiving, but I'm sure when I am back at work Monday I'll need naps again! I have been feeling okay, because I've figured out I feel bad when I eat normal sized meals. So instead I've been eating just tiny amounts throughout the whole day, and I've not felt as queasy. Again, not sure if/how that will change once I'm up working again. I get little cramps every once in awhile, and I've been really gassy (which is what the cramps seem to be). That's been my worst this week.

We've talked about names a little bit, but nothing is set at all. We have our girl name ready, I think, but we haven't said "this is it" or anything. The girl name is Emily Jean (his grandmother was Emily, and in my family every generation has either a Jean or a Jeanie--I'm Jeanie). Our boy name is very us in the air because we don't really have boy names on either side that we like, but my favorite so far is Jacob Charles (my grandfather was Jay Charles and went by JC, so it's kind of a variation on that). My husband and I both have names that we've always had to spell for people, and people always write wrong, so we want very common names for our kids. Obviously we just want a healthy baby, but we both are hoping for a boy. We will love a little girl just as much, though. Do you or your husband have any names picked out? Do you have a hope of boy/girl?
cid
30247

I'm with you on the simple names. My name is Gina and you wouldn't believe all the variations I've seen. It's 4 letters! For a girl I'm thinking first name Olivia and middle name Elizabeth or Marie (both family names on my side for many many generations). For a boy I'm thinking of naming him after my husband and his dad. They both have the same first name and different middle names. My husband is Juan Carlos and goes by Carlos and his father is Juan Manuel and goes by Juan. My husband wants to name our son Omar (from The Wire if you've seen that haha men). Also Robert is a family name from my side so that's an option. I'm not set in stone on any of these. Years ago I knew for sure I wanted a daughter named Celia but now I'm so indecisive. I love the names you have tentatively chosen. I think Emily is so sweet. I thought about that for a girl but my husband's cousin's daughter is Emily.

Awesome you're a teacher what grade do you teach? My husband is a teacher :) Hopefully you start feeling less tired soon as you get closer to your second trimester (I'm hoping as well today I pretty much slept the whole day and I never take naps usually). I don't really have a preference on gender as long as the baby is healthy. I grew up with sisters so it would be fun to play with a little girl :) but having a sweet little boy would be amazing. My husband already refers to our baby as he or jr but I know he would love a little girl as well. He was been wanting a baby for a long time now. I was working in a super stressful job where my avg work week was 70-80 hrs long and I thought it would be selfish of me to have a baby working like that. So we decided earlier this year that I would quit my job and we would tighten our belts a bit and try for a baby :)

I hope you can snack throughout the day at work so you don't get queasy. Like granola bars or crackers or something

Hi I'm a first time mom due July 18th. It's definitely been a lot harder than I expected. Being tired and nausea daily. I've been so hungry like every 2 hours but nothing sounds good to eat. I also have always had severe heartburn so that's been pretty bad as well. I'm super excited for the baby but just can't wait for the next few weeks to go by and hopefully start feeling better!

Never thought I would do that but I am excited for it. Everything went well with the first appointment. How about you? I hope it eases up for us both so we can start to enjoy it!

Hello! I am finally starting to feel normal again. I had a really bad spell around 8 weeks and couldn't stop vomiting for 3 days but finally got that under control. I love to eat but didn't realize it would be so hard to eat every few hours to prevent getting sick. Its so annoying! haha I have my next appointment in about a week and a half and get to hear the babes heart beat I am so excited! I think that will make it more real. How about you Gmschaffer? Feeling better yet?
cid

I don't know if its just bloating or me just being slightly overweight before the pregnancy but I feel like my belly is huge already and I am only 10 weeks. I've been asked at work if I am pregnant and I shouldn't even be showing yet. Does anyone else feel this way? I have actually lost about 8 pounds since becoming pregnant so it can't be that I've gained weight already. Just curious if anyone else has a similar experience? Congrats to all you ladies! Have a wonderful holidays!

Hi everybody! Congrats to the max on all of your expected little bundles of joy!. I have two beautiful children, ages 12 & 9, and then I had two consecutive miscarriages at 6 weeks in the past two years. I also have PCOS, which made it difficult for me to conceive, however, with my first try with Clomid, I got a positive result in November. My due date is June 28th, but after I hit the age of 30, my cycles went from 28 days on the dot, to about 33-36 days, it's also been calculated as July 2nd. A medicine called Envepe has been helping with the nausea. Also, eating small quantities of bland food helps keep things settled..and Popsicles too. Caffein usually adds to the acidity, so bye bye to coffee:( I've noticed that potatoes also don't digest so easily. Oatmeal and cereal usually help. Um, lets see, what else? Just nibbling on your favorite cookies or crackers helps a lot too.
cid
30320

Just make sure you don't leave your tummy empty, but don't overeat either..Also, ginger or mint should help in subsiding your nausea. I hope some of these tips may be of use to you. Take care and have a very Happy New Year!
cid
30321

Slpoelstra did you have your appointment yet? At my last one on dec 24 I got to see the baby moving around and little hands and feet :). It was so amazing! That was transavaginal. We didn't see a profile because we were looking at the top of the head and downward. When the dr did the abdominal we saw a profile but not super clearly. I'm thinking it's because my bladder was completely empty and I was only 10.5 weeks along. It's going to be so exciting for you to see your little one! I decided to do the screening tests and I have my first trimester blood test today and the nt scan on jan 13. Is anyone else doing these?
cid
30324

Slpoelstra I'm feeling the same way. I haven't gained any weight but my pants are too tight around the waist now. I've started wearing maternity pants and they are so comfortable. I'm wearing the kind with the band that goes under the belly instead of over it. And it looks like I'm losing weight I guess but the scale says otherwise haha. I am starting to have a little bulge though which is exciting!
cid
30325

Mznelson, congratulations! It's amazing to think there are little people growing inside of us. Hearing that heartbeat makes it feel so real :) are you hoping for a boy or a girl?
cid
30326

Samina, congratulations on your pregnancy! Thank you for the tips. My dr gave me a prescription for zofran and I haven't picked it up yet. I'm almost at the end of week 11 so hopefully the nausea lets up a bit. Have you found anything that helps with indigestion? Tums aren't working for me and it seems everything gives me a sour stomach, even Cheerios.
cid
30327

Sploelstra I'm glad you are starting to feel better :) vomiting that much is scary it's really good it let up. What kinds of foods are you eating to curb it?
cid
30328

Gmschaffer, I am also having heartburn. What has really worked wonders for me is about 1/4 glass of milk mixed with water to fill the rest of the glass. I add a little bit of strawberry flavor just for my own liking And drink about 4 glasses a day and then don't get heart burn. Also, steer from spicy gods, or over eating. I started over eating out of excitement because I was finally just able to even digest my food! Hehehe! So that gave me serious heartburn. Definitely definitely definitely try the milk and water....with 1:3 as the ratio. Hopefully this will make you feel better. I am 33 and am having this baby after 9 years. Are there any tests I should get done at this stage to check for any abnormalities? My next appt. is on the 9th of January.
cid
30329

Samina, I will have to try your trick thanks :) even a handful of grapes and water gave me the worst indigestion! The tests I am taking are the serum integrated screening (blood drawn in first trimester and compared to blood drawn at second trimester), quad marker screening (blood drawn in second trimester), and nuchal translucency (ultrasound done in first trimester to measure fluid at back of baby's neck to see if at risk of Down syndrome). These tests detects risk of Down syndrome, trisomy 18, anencephaly, open spina bifida, abdominal wall defects, and smith-lemli-optiz syndrome. Definitely ask your dr about these tests. They don't let you know 100% if your baby will have any of these but it can prepare you. There are some that are at risk according to the tests but their babies are healthy. I'm 31 and decided to take all of them to prepare my husband and I mentally if our baby does have any of these. My dr also ordered a test for cystic fibrosis.
cid
30330

Also if your tests do show you are at risk there are additional tests you take for more info (such as an amniocentesis). The blood tests are covered by the state of ca (according to my insurance, I'm not sure if it is covered in your state), and the nt scan is $176-$194 and is not covered by my insurance (ask your dr and insurance co). I saw online there are other tests such as materniT21 and CVS tests to test for abnormalities.
