Naturally Orange

Our kids get enough artificial candy gunk this time of the year, don’t they? Why not try a way create orange colored frosting for your little pumpkins? I developed this naturally orange colored frosting for some pumpkin cookies the boys and I made last Halloween. They were so cute, so tasty and so naturally cute that I just had to share. First, make your cut-out pumpkin cookies. We like to use gingerbread dough for cut-outs, but whatever floats your boat is just fine. Once they’re cooled, whip up some… Naturally Orange Frosting 1 cup of canned pureed pumpkin 1-2 tablespoons apple cider ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon several cups of powdered sugar Mix the pumpkin, apple cider and ground cinnamon in a bowl. Add 1-2 cups of powdered sugar, and stir well. Add additional powdered sugar until the desired consistency is reached. Spread some on top of your pumpkin cookies, and use chocolate chips for jack o’lantern features: I made these cookies for G's preschool class this week and the first thing the teachers said when I came to pick him up was, "we need this recipe!" I think the pumpkin flavor, combined with gingerbread is a home run. Happy Halloween! SPC
