This photograph is of a 38 caliber semi-automatic handgun, a 380 semi-automatic handgun, a 357 handgun revolver, and an automatic Uzi-style machine pistol. What interests me today is the automatic Uzi-style machine pistol. Wikipedia notes, "Uzi is a related family of submachine guns. Smaller variants are considered machine pistols." The first Uzi submachine gun was designed by Uziel Gal in the late 1940s." Wikipedia also lists both current Uzi users (countries like Iran, Israel, Vietnam -- nearly 50 countries) and former users (Rhodesia, Singapore, Poland and the United States -- the Secret Service). What I would like to know is this: How does an automatic Uzi-style machine pistol get to a residential neighborhood in Boston? The firearms in the photo above were recovered by the Boston Police Department in a Roxbury home, in the possession of an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old.
