Allison McDonald is a former preschool teacher who now spends her days learning with her 3-year-old son and baby daughter. She lives in the Seattle area with her husband and two children.

Use what you have is the theme this week and if teaching with q-tips doesn't fit that bill I don't know what does! 1. Gather your materials. You will need some q-tips, paper and a marker. 2. Start by making some shapes for your child to trace. This to me isn't the lesson, it's the demonstration. The lesson is step 4! 3. Have your child make the shapes with the q-tips. 4. Now that they know all the fun shapes they can make, flip the paper over and ask them to make their own shapes. I like this one that we created!
