3 Great Halloween Books

The Biggest Pumpkin Ever by Steven Kroll is a sweet story about two mice both feeding and caring for a pumpkin without the other knowing. What I like about this book is that the mice work together for most of the book without knowing it, and when they do discover that they have both been tending to the giant pumpkin they don't try to claim it and each mouse still gets to carryout their plans of the pumpkin and jack-o-lantern contest. Nice lesson about cooperation. Happy Halloween Emily by Claire Masurel is a story about a little bunny Emily who is getting excited about Halloween but soon anxiety about the scarier aspects creeps in. It's her little baby brother who helps her feel brave as she reassures him that his family are just in costumes and there is nothing to be afraid of. Good book for children still unsure of trick or treating. We're Going On A Ghost Hunt by Marcia Vaughn is a Halloween twist on the classic " Going On A Bear Hunt". Two children go on a spooky ghost hunt through the swamp, past bats and skeletons and haunted house. As they get to the end of their journey they turn around and go back through all the scary places which are revealed to be spots in their own backyard and it was just their imaginations. Cute book about Halloween pretend play.
