Japanese : ‘peaceful rice paddy’; there are several families,
descended from the Taira, Sasaki, and Sakanoue clans.
The family has several branches of its own. It is listed in the
Shinsen shōjiroku, and is found throughout Japan and in the
Ryūkyū Islands.
