AOL also has another buddy list product called Instant Messenger. Instant Messenger is an Internet based buddy list that is bundled with the Netscape Communicator browser suite. It can be used by anyone, including non-AOL members.

Instant Messenger has a number of unique features. Not only can you connect to other people across the Internet who have downloaded and installed it, you can also send instant messages to anyone on the main AOL online service (those running the regular AOL client seen in the screenshot above). That means you've got nearly 14 million people to whom you can send instant messages. Better start typing now!
