Safe Searching for Kids

Although Yahoo! and other search engines can be used by children, you should keep in mind that sometimes there are inappropriate site links displayed in search results. Search results can contain links to pornographic and violent sites, even if you've used an innocuous sounding keyword as the search criterion.

If you're going to let your child search the Web, it's much better to use a kid-safe search engine. Two prominent examples are Yahooligans!, the kid-safe version of Yahoo, and the kids only section of AOL's Netfind. Both of these directories have been modified to filter out inappropriate sites so your child won't see them displayed in search results:
