Avoid These Dangerous Toys!

Despite passage of the 1994 Child Safety Protection Act, hazardous toys can still be found on toy store shelves across the country, according to a nationwide toy safety survey released by the U.S. Public Interest Research Group (U.S. PIRG).

Here is PIRG's list of twenty toys to watch out for this year. These toys are examples of dangerous toys found on toy shelves. The list is not all-inclusive.

    Toys containing small balls (Choking hazard for children under 3.)

  6. Battery Operated Transport Truck (Manley, Model #80009)
  7. Floating Eyeball
  8. Mini Fruits and Vegetables Bucket (Battat, Model #BB2287)
  9. Yellow rubber ball, not smooth
  10. Ball Gun (Good Old Values, Model #G16766)

    Balloons (Balloons are unsafe for children under 8. The following are balloons marketed for young children.)

  11. Baby's First Birthday Balloons (Unique, Model #19915)
  12. Crafts Mate Balloons

    Near small part (Could be a choking hazard for young children.)
